Omri Goldshtrom
Founder & Instructor
SAT, ACT, AP & non-AP Math, Sciences, History, Writing, and Computer Science, TAKS
Omri (Oh-m ree) has privately tutored over 500 high school students in the past eight years in all major subjects, as well as for the SAT, ACT, TAKS, and other standardized tests. He attended a math and science magnet high school in New Jersey, where he is from, and then went on to graduate from the University of Texas with degrees in the Plan II Honors Program (Liberal Arts) and Mathematics. Omri believes that a higher education is critical to a successful and rewarding life, and he is presently applying to PhD and combined MD/PhD programs.
Beyond academics, Omri believes a well-rounded lifestyle leads to happiness and achievement. That's why he pushes students to be better communicators, to think creatively not formulaically, to be efficient with their time, to treat their bodies and minds well, and to harness a go-getter's attitude. In his private time Omri likes to hike, bike, kayak, play tennis, cook, read, and play music -- he was a piano teacher for many years. He encourages his students to utilize their own talents to find strength and motivation in their academics, as well as to relieve stress and find focus.
Omri is excited to teach these innovative review classes through Whole Tutoring because they create a unique environment in which students find company in their struggles and learn by helping one another. A class setting is critical to reaching the widest possible audience with this well-rounded learning approach, and Omri is already working with talented new instructors to expand the Whole Tutoring team. He is excited to watch the list of tutors grow!
Whole Tutoring is the outgrowth of Omri's desire to reach a wider audience with his successful learning pedagogy. Financially it is a dive, charging the lowest rates in Austin. But Whole Tutoring provides the structure for talented local instructors to join in a collective and improve their skills together, offer private students an additional class setting (for free) to help them learn, and promote the services of individual tutors by attracting new students.
